New England Collegiate Baseball League and professional leagues
offer summertime baseball action in Massachusetts

The New England Collegiate Baseball League is summer college baseball at its best. Seeing a college baseball game is an evening of great summertime fun for children and families during a New England vacation. The league, consisting of 12 teams in the six New England states, starts its summer season in early June and plays an eight-week schedule of 42 games per team. The league championship is determined by a playoff in early August.

Massachusetts’s professional minor leagues include the Lowell spinners, a Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, based in Lowell. Last but not least, of course, is that most major of the Majors, the 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox, based in the legendary Fenway Park.

2007 World Series Champions

This is baseball at its best, by the World Series Champs of 2004 and 2007. From the pre-game carnival on the streets outside the park to a bottom-of-the-ninth comeback, watching the Red Sox in action is truly memorable. Come to historic Fenway Park and watch as Manny and Big Papi conquer the Green Monster. With Dice-K on the mound, Pedroia smothering grounders up the middle, and Coco Crisp and J. D. Drew snagging fly balls along the fences you will see how the champions play.

Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox

The Lowell Spinners are feeding talent into Boston Red Sox of tomorrow. As the Red Sox entry in the short-season New York-Penn League, the Lowell Spinners have had many team members climb the minor league ladder to become major leaguers. Already, several top Red Sox prospects have played in Lowell, beginning in 1999 with third baseman Wilton Veras. An original Spinner in 1996, Veras became the first former Spinner to reach the Red Sox. The team takes its name from the region's long history as home to New England textile mills. It is proud of the nickname "Thread Sox Nation."
