New England Collegiate Baseball League and professional leagues offer summertime baseball action in Massachusetts
The New England Collegiate Baseball League is summer college baseball at its best. Seeing a college baseball game is an evening of great summertime fun for children and families during a New England vacation. The league, consisting of 12 teams in the six New England states, starts its summer season in early June and plays an eight-week schedule of 42 games per team. The league championship is determined by a playoff in early August.
Games are broadcast via Teamline. Fans can view the live video webcast of an entire game via the Internet for $15; listen to to live audio webcast of the games for fee; or listen to a live play-by-play from any telephone for $5 per game. Games start at 7 p.m. unless otherwise indicated. Other game starting times may be 1, 3, 5, 6, 6:30, and 6:35 p.m. Consult team schedules are team websites.
Massachusetts’s professional minor leagues include the Lowell spinners, a Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, based in Lowell. Last but not least, of course, is that most major of the Majors, the 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox, based in the legendary Fenway Park.
