Foliage Mountain View - North Central Massachusetts

The Mountains and their Natural Beauty


The warmer days bring the hikers back out to Wachusett Mountain Reservation, Leominster State Forest, Mass. Audubon Sanctuaries and all the other trails and walking paths dotted throughout the region.

Bicyclists take to scenic country roads, rock climbers take to the slopes of Crow Hill and canoers and kayakers enjoying the local ponds and lakes. The fish are biting, birds are chirping, the leaves of the trees whistle in the wind, and the sun shines well into the evening. Golf courses are abuzz with activity and walkers enjoy strolls down country roads and forest paths. Outdoor events and festivals are abundant, even at winter hubs such as Wachusett Mountain Ski Area.

A Tour of the Countryside


Ice cream stands and farmers markets are open and thriving in the villages and towns throughout the region. Mother Nature has painted the trees and hillsides with the beautiful green foliage that is in full bloom. Orchards are open offering their seasonal bounty and garage sales and antique markets dot the landscape everywhere. There is so much to enjoy for all ages throughout North Central Massachusetts. For shoppers, summer sales at the quaint shops and specials for diners, restaurants and all local craft breweries offer outdoor seating to make the most of the warmer days and nights.

Take a picturesque drive through one of the 27 classic & historic New England towns in the region and enjoy the fresh mountain air and scenic countryside. It’s all waiting for you in North Central Massachusetts!

  • Attend a concert at the spectacular new Groton Hill Music Center.

A creative adventure for the whole family

There is great family fun and creative magic at the Fitchburg Art Museum. FAM present galleries filled with antiquities from Egypt, Greece and Rome, Africa and 19th century New England. Take a journey across time and you’ll discover sculptures, everyday objects, realistic reproductions of tomb walls, and even a mummy. Intriguing Learning Lounges feature interactive spaces where you can listen to an artist describe her own process, create your own art project, or contribute to a communal art work.
