Massachusetts mountain resorts offer spas, sports, & fun all year round

The Berkshires region of western Massachusetts is well-known and loved for summer music and theater, and its craggy peaks and valleys also are home to mountain resorts that make a splendid hideaway for a romantic getaway or a family vacation in all seasons.

Ski areas like Jiminy Peak, Wachusett, and Berkshire East welcome skiers and snow boarders to historic, comfortable and family-friendly peaks for snow sports. Even in winter, resort guests who are indoor-inclined will relish the joys of hot tub, sauna, exercise room, dining, and nearby galleries, shops, museums, and live music venues.

Summer and fall are rich with warm weather sports, swimming and hiking, scenic drives and lots of cultural outlets, like Tanglewood. Resorts that offer condos with multiple bedrooms are ideal for people gathering for reunions, weddings, and other big celebrations.

Easy to see why this resort in the Berkshires is at the height of its popularity

You could say Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort is at the peak of its popularity these days, and it’s easy to see why. The resort features thrilling trails and challenging terrains for skiers and snowboarders, of course, as well as trails for mountain bikers, hikers and snowshoers. But it also has outdoor adventures from alpine slides and elevated ropes courses to scenic six-passenger chairlifts, a zip line, rock-climbing wall and a mountain coaster that zips through the woods. Dining options are plentiful, from the full-service John Harvard’s Restaurant & Brewery to pub food at Christiansen’s Tavern. In the winter, JJ’s Lodge food court, and its patio, can be found by following the armor of cinnamon rolls. On-site accommodations include the Country Inn and, for larger groups, vacation homes in condo communities.
