This year’s Winterlights at the Stevens-Coolidge Place, an early 20th-century estate, will add a grove of lighted trees in Helen’s Meadow and a children’s area, inspired by classic children’s book “The Mitten.” This interactive woodland creature feature will allow guests and become a part of the story. Also: seasonal entertainment, children’s activities and refreshments for purchase. Free parking and shuttle service from Franklin Elementary School, 2 Cypress Terrace. The gardens at this beautiful house will be illuminated with tens of thousands of shimmering holiday lights. Winterlights in Naumkeag in 2019 will include the Chinese Temple Garden. The tour will be a self-guided walking tour through the many garden rooms of the 44-acre estate including the Blue Steps and the greenhouse and first floor of the home. There’s a live performances every night at 7 pm in the J.K. Lily III Automobile Gallery. Snacks and warm drinks for sale at the Magnolia Café.

Hundreds of Christmas trees line downtown streets; they are lighted in a public ceremony with caroling at dusk the day after Thanksgiving (November 29 2019).
On Stroll Saturday, December 6, carolers in costume sing familiar Christmas tunes at downtown locations. Live entertainment is offered on Main Street, including craft shows, performances, special dinners at island restaurants, tours, and exhibitions. Many merchants offer holiday refreshments. At mid-day, the Nantucket Town Crier will ring in Christmas Stroll, and lead a walk to wharves to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, who arrive via Coast Guard Cutter, and then come into town to meet the children. Come and tour historic homes – decorated by professional decorators and florists -- in the upper McIntire district., Houses will be open for tours throughout the weekend. A complimentary trolley takes visitors from downtown parking locations to the tour route, providing historical information and a festive ride. Friday is the Preview night. Only 4 of the houses will be on view Friday night. All of the houses will be open Saturday and Sunday. Day-of tickets will be sold only at tour headquarters. No children under age 6. Tickets.

Music begins as the train departs the station; elves will be leading sing-alongs of favorite Christmas songs. Cookies and hot chocolate are served! At Christmas Town, Santa and his elves climb aboard to greet the kids and give them special gift.
The train departs from Hyannis and travels through West Barnstable and Sandwich and down to the Cape Cod Canal. Travelers can enjoy views of sand dunes and salt marshes and glimpses of the Cap Cod Bay. Trips are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
