Revolutionary-era tavern serves up mouth-watering fare, from pot roast to pot pie

Roast turkey, Yankee pot roast, chicken pot pie: If that list is making your mouth water, you need to be at Ebenezer’s Tavern at the Publick House in historic Sturbridge. Yankee fare served up in a colonial atmosphere is the specialty at this tavern, named for the inn’s Revolutionary-era founder, Col. Ebenezer Crafts, who entertained troops hearthside with culinary feasts. You can still feast at the tavern, whether it’s clam chowder and turkey sandwiches with sausage-cornbread stuffing for lunch or jumbo crab cakes, homemade potato chips and shepherd’s pie for dinner. A children’s menu includes a little tom turkey meal, fish and chips and chicken fingers. Mouth-watering desserts (you’ll want to visit the Bake Shoppe) are also on the menu.
